Once upon a time, Baby Deer woke up with ✨ twelve ✨ incredible ideas.
Before coffee.
Before Slack.
Before his brain had even loaded.
Idea #1: “What if we add agents?”
Idea #2: “What if we pivot to SMB?”
Idea #3: “What if we make a founder community?”
Idea #4: “What if we open-source it?”
Idea #5: “What if we build a game that teaches security?”
Idea #6: “What if we just rewrite everything in Rust?”
By 9:14 AM his notes app looked like a conspiracy wall.
Arrows. Stars. URGENT emojis.
Three different startup names.
Baby Deer whispered,
“…goddammit.”
Because every idea was good.
Not fake-good, real-good.
The kind that makes your chest buzz.
The kind that makes investors nod.
The kind that makes you forget to eat.
He opened Slack.
Typed:
“Team, I have a quick thought…”
Then stopped.
Because last week he’d had another quick thought.
And the week before.
Suddenly he saw it:
The team’s tired eyes.
The half-finished feature.
The onboarding flow still broken.
The customer waiting.
Baby Deer leaned back.
Closed his eyes.
And remembered something the tiny founder told him once:
“Ideas are free.
Finishing costs courage.”
He took a sticky note.
Wrote every idea down.
All twelve.
Folded it.
Put it in a mug.
“Later,” he told them.
Like tucking noisy birds into a nest.
Then he opened the roadmap.
One bug.
One customer issue.
One deploy.
That was it.
By 6 PM nothing glamorous had happened.
No pivot.
No new product.
No viral tweet.
But the onboarding worked.
A customer smiled.
A support ticket closed.
Baby Deer stared at the quiet dashboard.
“…goddammit,” he said softly.
Because the ideas were still buzzing in the mug.
But something else was louder now.
Relief.
Because sometimes founders don’t need more ideas.
They need permission to finish one small promise.
Later that night, he unfolded the sticky note.
Crossed out nine.
Circled three.
Smiled.
Because good ideas don’t die.
They just wait until Baby Deer is ready.
🦌✨
